Exciting news to bring you – last year, we began working with children's author and environmentalist Lizzie Pepper to create a proof-of-concept film and pitch deck for her series of novels, Last Year of the Wild.
We're excited to share today that we've already been shopping the series around with distributors for funding or co-funding opportunities. As we continue to shop the series around, we're looking for new contacts in the world of animated IP.

Last Year of the Wild is a series for kids and families, using a beautiful 2D style designed by yours truly and inspired by the award-winning book series. With five books in the story, it's perfect for long-form adaptation. It's a serialised story, following a journey across land, sea and sky, with our characters growing as we progress through their story.
"Set in 2060, the series follows a young robin and his friends as they battle the forces that mean to pollute the world and destory the beauty of nature."
The series explores environmentalism, rewilding and how to best protect the natural world. It's a story that's quintessentially British but also with aspirations across Europe and the world, as our plucky lead characters Rufus Robin and Jack Sparrow travel the world to protect nature. This international scope would make it a great opportunity for international co-production from backers from across Europe or North America.
Think the charming, natural vibes of Wind in the Willows, the winding character journeys of Avatar: The Last Airbender and the cosy adventure of Hilda.
We're on the lookout for TV commissioners, producers and executives to expand our network. If you're interested in getting involved in a timely new IP (with a successful novel series as a strong foundation already), please get in touch to take a look at the proof-of-concept and pitch deck. Email me at cutthemustard.studio@gmail.com for more information, and we can set up a chat. As the project gains momentum, we'll be searching for further partners in areas like licencing, merchandise and production.
